About LaSonja Lightfoot
I have spent more than two decades helping people navigate change, overcome barriers, and move toward something better.
My career has taken me through human services, behavioral health, higher education, workforce development, coaching, training, program leadership, and community-based work. Across every role, one thing has remained consistent: I am most fulfilled when I am helping people see possibilities they may not yet see for themselves.
Today, I bring those experiences together through Lightfoot Coaching & Consulting Group.
My work is rooted in a simple belief: people do not need more empty motivation. They need practical tools, clear direction, relevant information, and strategies they can actually use.

My Professional Journey
My background includes leadership and direct-service experience in behavioral health, therapeutic foster care, career navigation, adult education, workforce development, SNAP Employment & Training, program development, and professional training.
I have worked with youth, parents, job seekers, students, professionals, organizations, community partners, and teams navigating complex systems and major life transitions.
Those experiences have shaped how I approach every training, workshop, program, and conversation. I understand that change rarely happens in a straight line. People bring real responsibilities, fears, histories, strengths, and competing priorities into every decision they make.
That is why my approach is both strategic and human.

What I Do Today
Through Lightfoot Coaching & Consulting Group, I work at the intersection of workforce development, training, personal development, AI literacy, and reinvention.
I help organizations strengthen their people and programs through practical training, facilitation, workforce strategy, staff development, youth development, and emerging technology education.
I also create resources and experiences for women navigating transition through Second Wind™, a platform focused on helping women understand their current season, make clearer decisions, and build what comes next from the experience they already have.

Why This Work Matters to Me
I know what it means to evolve.
I have experienced seasons of building, caregiving, leadership, uncertainty, achievement, exhaustion, transition, and reinvention. My own journey has taught me that growth is not always about becoming someone completely different.
Sometimes it is about recognizing the value of everything you have already survived, learned, built, and become—and using it differently.
That perspective shapes the way I work with people.
I do not believe in pretending that change is easy. I believe in helping people understand where they are, identify what is within their control, make informed decisions, and take practical steps forward.

Beyond the Work
My work combines professional experience in counseling, workforce development, education, program leadership, and coaching with a practical, strengths-based approach.
Whether I am facilitating a training, speaking to a group, working with a community partner, teaching people how to use AI, or creating tools for women in transition, my goal is the same.
My Approach
If you are looking for a trainer, speaker, facilitator, workforce development professional, program partner, or practical voice on AI, resilience, career development, youth development, or reinvention, I would welcome the opportunity to connect.
I am also an author, lifelong learner, mother, grandmother, and doctoral candidate.
My personal and professional experiences have reinforced something I now believe deeply: experience is not baggage. It is data. It is wisdom. It is evidence of what you know, what you have overcome, and what you can build next.
That belief sits at the center of both my professional work and Second Wind™.
